The Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra (LSSO) is turning up the energy for its 2026–27 season under the baton of Music Director Kirt Mosier. The Symphony is thrilled to announce its season opener, Ignite! Dance on Fire, on October 10, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The season kicks off with an evening devoted entirely to the dance floor’s grip on the symphony orchestra.

The program spans continents and eras, including “La Suerta de los Tontos” (Fortune of Fools) from Johnny Richards’ Cuban Fire Suite, Arturo Márquez’s fiery “La Conga del Fuego Nuevo,” Jerry Bock’s Symphonic Dances from Fiddler on the Roof (arr. Ira Hearshen), Robert Sheldon’s Danzas Cubanas, and Music Director Kirt Mosier’s own arrangement of “Dance of the Gypsy” — plus more surprises along the way.

The concert also welcomes Kansas City’s own Fountain City Brass Band, under the direction of Joseph Parisi, for an evening-long collaboration that builds to a grand finale: a brand-new arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Dance of the Tumblers” performed by the full Symphony and Brass Band together.
